Doesn't work with PodPress

By Grant McHerron @grantmcherron2018-12-09 06:38:13.078Z

Trying to use WP2Static on a site with PodPress managing the podcast episodes. The export fails with the plugin activated but works fine when it's deactivated.

The error log isn't giving a lot of information:

Any ideas what's going wrong?

    Hi Grant,

Sorry for the late reply, have been on the road a bit.

I can't see a lot from there, but it could be choking on the XML files or such.

Please give this latest pre-release version a try and let me know if issues still persist / any better logging comes out of it:

    Cheers,

    Leon

Thanks Leon, I've installed WP21Static v6.1 and run through the process again but it's still not going through to completion. The 404s Encountered and "DIscovered URLs during Crawl" logs don't load (shows "loading log file..." and the expanding circle next to the (re)load log button.

The "Detected Wordpress URLs" and "Modified crawl list" logs are huge (lots of tags and over 500 uploaded mp3 files from the podcast episodes). The "Crawled Links" log is shorter and doesn't include the uploaded files (as you might expect).

I'll try to attach the other logs as files to this reply.

      The Export Log is:

Ooops, couldn't link files. The three other logs that were produced can be found at:

          Hi Grant,

Server may be running out of resources...

Try adding mp3 to the Excludes List, along with a substring that will exclude majority of your posts/pages. Then see if that helps get through...

Then we'll have a better idea what's the cause of the failure.

          Cheers,

          Leon

I've added the following entries to the "Exclude certain URLs" field:

            /wp-content/uploads/
            /tag/

Still got the same failure although the Crawled Links, Detected WordPress URLs and Modified Crawl List logs are different. I've loaded them into static.southernskiesmedia.com.au and put the previous ones in a 2018-12-27 directory.

Excluding the uploads URLs and the /tag/ URLs should have cut out a huge number of entries but it still seems to have left the system with too much to process.

Do you have a "verbose" mode for the logging so we can see where it's failing?

            1. Leon Stafford @leonstafford2019-01-01 07:45:18.613Z

Best option is the PHP error logs on the system.

If you get something like "Too many files open", that's usually easy enough to fix by juts removing the restriction.

Else, let me know what you find. What kind of hosting was this on?
