Cannot start exporting

By @rogerfc2019-02-13 11:33:14.180Z

I am not able to start the export.

On accessing the plugin view on /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp2static it would seem that there is already an export process ongoing, with the message "Analyzing site... this may take a few minutes (but it's worth it!)" with all buttons greyed out.
Clicking on the hidden "Cancel export" button changes nothing besides reloading, and clicking on the "Start export" after enabling it results in the error "Failed during "Crawling initial file list", please consult the Help tab for where to get assistance."

How can I unlock the plugin?

    Hi @rogerfc,

Sorry for the late reply, I can see this must be frustrating!

As the plugin screen loads, it detects all the URLs it can from WordPress, to use in its initial "crawl" of the site. Once that's finished, the export buttons are enabled, but something seems to be preventing that process to complete.

Something is failing at this point, it could be permissions on the upload directory, usually wp-content/uploads/

There should be an error in your PHP logs on the server. Please let me know if unable to find those.

      Hi @leonstafford,

thanks for the reply. From the few logs I could access from the hosting platform, looks like there is a memory problem:

[Mon Feb 18 11:11:40.178985 2019] [:error] [pid 4155] [client ] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /nas/content/live//wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 2385, referer: https://****/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wp2static

Will try to address this problem .

        Hi @leonstafford,

problem solved. There was an overwhelming number of comments, and the mem usage went to normal after deleting them.

        Thanks for the help!

Thanks for updating, @rogerfc, glad it progressed mode for you. Resource usage is a continuing challenge, but one I hope to see more progress on soon. Cheers, Leon
